Abstract:

The Moxi Natural Gas Purification Plant of PetroChina Southwest Oil & Gasfield Company(ChuanZhong Oil & Gas Division) operates four gas-fired steam boilers, with pollutant emission concentrations meeting the special emission limits for key regions specified in GB 13271—2014 “Emission Standard of Air Pollutants for Boilers”. However, to comply with increasingly stringent emission reduction requirements, low-NOx combustion retrofitting was still necessary. In August 2024, the plant implemented a modification project using the “low-NOx burner + flue gas recirculation(FGR)” technology on the boilers' burners and flue ducts. This retrofit optimized burner structure and combustion control to reduce flame temperature and oxygen content in the flue gas, while recirculated flue gas was reintroduced into the furnace through the combustion air channel to further lower the furnace temperature. After the retrofit, the NOx concentration in flue gas emissions was reduced to below 30 mg/m3. The “low-NOx burner + FGR” retrofit scheme is simple, requires low investment, delivers significant emission reduction benefits, and provides a replicable and scalable pathway for emission reduction and the achievement of “ dual carbon” targets in existing gas-fired boilers.
